20x10” oil on canvas. Created during the Glacier Art Museum's Plein Air Paint Out Event in Glacier National Park Montana 2026. I had painted this scene alongside the McDonald Creek falls at the base of Going to the Sun road just past Lake McDonald.
Painted Plein air on site, I sat on the edge of the rock ledge and started in the morning sunshine illuminating the water in colorful light. Then a passing thunderstorm and heavy rain came through for awhile, and then back to sunshine. My rock ledge stayed dry, but I did have thoughts about sudden flash flood possibility...
Framed in a 2" tall/deep Walnut wooden float frame.
